In the camp
What they do
The projects they work through in the camp, one at a time.
A team channel
Ninjas split into teams by the kind of video they want to make, then build the channel: name, profile picture and a banner they design after pulling apart what makes four real ones work.
A how-to video
Planned, filmed and edited. The first one teaches them what they actually want to change about the second.
A second video, made better
They write down what they learned from the first and what they are changing before they start, which is the whole point of making two.
A channel trailer
Thirty seconds to two minutes, built to a brief: grab attention, do not go deep, leave them wanting the channel.
A superhero short, generated from a prompt
They design a character - size, prop, mission - then write the subject, description and style prompt that produces a three-part comic-style story about its first mission.
What they leave with
By the end of camp
Taken from the camp's own curriculum, not written for this page.
- Collaborated within a group to create and customize a team YouTube channel
- Learned how to design channel art, profile pictures, and video thumbnails
- Created their own content to record, edit and upload to their team YouTube channel
- Learned about copyright and fair use, and what it takes to become a YouTube star

After camp
Loved our camp? Keep building all year.
Create is our core coding program, where a ninja builds real games in JavaScript and works up through the belts. The first session is free, so they can try it before you decide.
Before you ask
Common questions
Do the videos go on the real YouTube?
Channels are built as part of the camp and what happens to them afterwards is up to you. Ask us on the first day and we will show you exactly what has been set up.
Will my child appear on camera?
They are making how-to videos, so usually it is hands and a voice rather than a face, and a ninja who would rather not be filmed can work behind the camera and in the edit.
Is copyright really part of a kids' camp?
Yes, and it is one of the three camp goals. They cover what original content means, who copyright protects and what fair use does and does not allow, because it is the thing most young creators get wrong first.
Do they use AI to make the videos?
For one project. They write prompts - subject, description, style - to generate a short comic-style story, after making two videos the ordinary way.
